The Pony Club is an international youth organisation which helps to develop equestrian sport by encouraging young people to have fun whilst learning to ride, and to take good care of ponies or horses.

​

Pony Club also encourages young people to enjoy a variety of sports associated with horses and provides instruction in horse riding and horse care. Our holistic focus means that we also develop the character of our members, by promoting sportsmanship, respect for animals and people, self-discipline and strength of character.

​

The South African Pony Club is the foundation of countless sports riders in our country. The excellent ground work that the SAPC strives to put in place has formed a firm footing for many top riders and instructors in this country, and around the world.

​

There are SAPC branches in five regions throughout South Africa; Gauteng, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

​

The Helderberg Branch is based in the Gordon's Bay area, however Riders from as far as Stellenbosch can join in.

WHO CAN JOIN

  • Children as young as 3 years old can experience and enjoy all kinds of activities connected with ponies and riding.

  • Until the age of 25 years members can receive instruction in riding, horse mastership, care of horses and different equine sports.

  • Members learn life skills as they develop confidence, respect, empathy and assertivenes.

  • They can earn achievement badges, take internationally recognised efficiency tests and compete in competitions.

ACTIVITIES

Once a month the Helderberg Branch will get together as per the programme. These events is called a Rally. Some rallies require homework , some will be mounted and other unmounted. During the Rally the Branch focus on the theory, instruction and other related requirements for the members to obtain their Activity Badges

​

Once or Twice a year the Branch will have a set date for Efficiency testing. During this event the riders knowledge and riding skills will be assessed. 

​

Pony Club is not just about theory and testing, a few highlights of the year is: The Pony Club Camp, Mounted Games Inter-branch and Annual Inter-branch.
